The Backbone Of Our Materials Handling Advantage
The Condor SEquential COMpression pumping
system “SECOM” was developed and refined by
Westend Industries, in the mid 70’s, and successfully
utilised in numerous applications ever since.
FEATURES
- Minimal output pulsations
- Reversible
- Can pump air
- Self priming
- Can handle large solids including fibres, rags aggregates
etc (NOTE: Maximum particle size varies as a function
of model and size)
- Can run dry indefinitely. Driving torque nominally
constant throughout each revolution (Thus lighter duty
drive components may be employed)
- Positive displacement
SECOM PUMPING SYSTEM APPLICATIONS
- The SECOM pumping system has been employed in those
areas of difficult materials handling. That is to say
that regular fluids would not require the use of the system.
However there are numerous applications typically of high
solids content that may benefit from the SECOM system.
- Justifiable SECOM Applications
- Mortar, grout, concrete pumping
- Explosives pumping (No metallic components to impact
and/or detonate)
- Food handling
- Shear sensitive products
POWERING
Any form of rotary drive suitably designed is quite acceptable
to drive SECOM pumps. EG:
- Electric Motor/Gearbox
- Hydraulic motor with/ without gearbox
- Air motor/gearbox
- Steam turbine, piston etc
FUNDAMENTALS
- Outputs to 1.5m3/hour do not require pump body vacuum
- Outputs above 1.5m3/hour require vacuum at pump body.
Typically to minus 60KPA varying with product and installation
- Being positive displacement, pulse generators and
therefore flow monitoring routinely employed
INDUSTRIES ADDRESSED
- Ring main mortar supply product pump delivering to
outlets and in turn to a further six pumps metering
into cast steel pipes during manufacture
- Explosives slurry metering and pumping into drill
hole pattern prior to open cut overburden mining
- Contractors equipment handling mortars, slurries,
grout, texture coating etc
SUMMARY
- The Condor SECOM pumping system is best utilised
where high solids are encountered and considered difficult
to handle
- All water based products routinely handled
- Non water based products may be successfully handled
subject to suitably available elastomers being employed
- Food handling applications require purpose designed
equipment, materials and fittings
- We design and manufacture installations utilising
the SECOM pumping system and to include primary and
tertiary processes. EG Mixing, metering, batching and
product manufacturing installations
