DREAMWORLD THEME PARK
Dreamworld is a significant tourist attraction
north of the Gold Coast in South Eastern Queensland, Australia.
During the mid 1980’s one of Westend
Industries clients won the contract for all the artificial
rock work within Dreamworld. Condor shotcreting equipment
was used exclusively throughout the project. The Dreamworld
project comprised of some 5500 square metres by an average
of 50mm thick of ordinary river sand, cement and oxides.
The project at Dreamworld was probably the
major influence towards the utilisation of shotcrete for
artificial rock work within Australia. Since that time,
practically every up market hotel or resort built in the
Gold Coast region has featured artificial rock themes to
varying degrees. This has also filtered down to the standard
domestic swimming pools throughout Australia.
Condor shotcreting equipment is proving to
be the preferred medium for shotcreting in artificial rock
projects. One project alone in Macau has used five of our
Condor MPS303B rigs for over 11 months - a huge project.
Artificial rock applications using Condor equipment is
the fastest growing industry witnessed within Westend Industries
history.
